I came across one of her most streamed songs Dancing in the Rain and immediately fell in love with the sound of her music. I don’t speak korean. I don’t always understand what Meaningful Stone is singing about, and yet,her music speaks to me in a way that very few artists do. Maybe that’s what I love most about music, sometimes you don’t need to understand the words to understand the feeling.

Her songs explore loneliness, love, fear, death, existence and the strange question of what makes a life meaningful. It is impossible to put them into one genre. Folk, Dream Pop, Shoegaze, Indie Rock, Psychedelic sounds, heavier guitars – she moves between them freely, without ever seeming to lose herself. Her music can be soft and dreamy one moment and raw and overwhelming the next. It’s not the diversity that makes her special but the depth underneath it. That’s what makes her such an inspiration to me. She reminds me that you don’t have to choose one version of yourself. You can be quiet and loud, dreamy and heavy, serious and playful. You can change. Even her name, Meaningful Stone, feels like a little piece of that philosophy: something ordinary that becomes meaningful when you stop and really look at it. I may never understand every word she sings. But I feel her music.

I relate a lot with the music and also see a little bit of myself in her. She has been one of the most inspiring persons for creating my own music and will forever be my role model in all forms of art.
